My Room

"Everyone carries a room about inside them. This fact can even be proved by means of the sense of hearing. If someone walks fast and one pricks up one's ears and listens, say at night, when everything round about is quiet, one hears, for instance, the rattling of a mirror not quite firmly fastened to the wall." -Franz Kafka

Wednesday Night

Today wasn't great, but now we're watching Desperate Housewives, so things are going better.

Christine has been excited all semester to hear author Frank McCourt at the Oxford Debating Society on Thursday, but nothing else really peaked our interest, so we didn't pick up our membership cards until today. When we went to the office, we found out that McCourt was yesterday. Sad.

Breakfast was delicious, and the market was fun as always. We got some dried fruit and peanuts, potatoes and onions, and some toiletries. Then we spent the rest of the afternoon reading. Arthur Conan Doyle's gothic fiction is lame, but I'm also reading Richard Marsh, who is really good. I spent the weekend reading the Iliad, so that's really all I want to do, but sadly I can't.

Two weeks until travel week and we can't wait!
